Everton has agreed upon a £25 million ($33.6 million) deal with Besiktas to sign striker Cenk Tosun.

Sam Allardyce has tracked the former Eintracht Frankfurt and Gaziantepspor player for some time and recommended him to Crystal Palace.

Everton previously tried to sign Olivier Giroud both in the summer and earlier in December.

Everton has been searching for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

Liverpool has agreed upon a £75 million ($100.6 million) fee with Southampton for Virgil van Dijk.

The fee is a word record for a defender. Liverpool nearly signed Van Dijk during the summer for £60 million.

Saints only paid £11.5 million for Van Dijk in 2015.

“Liverpool football club can confirm they have reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of Virgil van Dijk,” read an official statement. “The Reds have agreed a deal with the south coast club, and the player himself, that will see the 26-year-old defender move to Anfield when the transfer window re-opens on 1 January 2018.”

Arsene Wenger denied a claim by Sam Allardyce that Olivier Giroud's wife blocked his transfer to Everton.

Giroud said earlier this season that he was "very close" to joining Everton before deciding to stay with the Gunners, where he has been a back-up to new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

"No, I don't think so," Wenger said. "He could have joined Everton and stayed basically in London. I don't think that was the problem."

Allardyce made the comments at his own news conference this week, when asked if he thought a deal for Giroud could be made in January.

"I wouldn't have thought so because he refused to come last time," Allardyce said. "He doesn't want to move north of London, I don't think. Or his wife doesn't. It is very important to the wives you know. Normally they are the bosses, I say that with experience."

Manchester United has interest in signing Paulo Dybala from Juventus with reports of an €80 million ($94.9 million) offer.

Dybala signed with Juventus in 2015 for just over €30 million.

Mourinho is searching for a number 10.

Barcelona and Real Madrid also have interest in Dybala.

Manchester City has interest in a summer transfer for Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk.

Fred is capable of playing as holding midfielder and City are expected to add another player in that position in the summer with Yaya Toure out of contract at the end of the season.

Fred also has six caps for Brazil but has not played for the Selecao since June 2015 although he was an unused substitute for World Cup qualifiers in October.

Sergio Aguero has become increasingly concerned about his long-term prospects remaining with Manchester City.

Aguero has been rotated with Gabriel Jesus by Pep Guardiola.

Aguero started last week's 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur but was replaced after 56 minutes with Guardiola saying after the match that he wanted "a little more energy."

Sources said Aguero is concerned about a possible lack of confidence in his ability from Guardiola, particularly after City were close to adding Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez in the summer.

Guardiola said last season that he wanted him to stay adding: "I want to be clear that I am so happy with Sergio, and hopefully he can stay for a long, long time here."

Diego Simeone insists Antoine Griezmann remains fully committed to Atletico Madrid despite links to Barcelona.

Griezmann revealed in his recent biography that he turned down Barca in 2011 and could yet join Manchester United in future.

"I am very happy with Griezmann," Simeone told AS. "I work off what I can see, and I see him wanting to take part and committed to the cause.

"The other day he forced the issue to play against Alaves, although not possibly fully fit. His relationship with his teammates is fine. I trust in Griezmann."

Pep Guardiola has told Manchester City that he would like to sign Alexis Sanchez and Virgil van Dijk during the January transfer window.

City nearly signed Sanchez during the summer. Sanchez is without a contract beyond the current season, which would allow City to sign him without a transfer fee in just a few months.

Guardiola has concerns about the depth of his back line due to the inconsistent fitness of Vincent Kompany.

Van Dijk has been restored to the Southampton first team under Mauricio Pellegrino after having a transfer request rejected but he could be allowed to leave should they receive a suitable offer, thought to be in the region of £60 million.

City would also like another central midfielder behind Fernandinho with Dortmund's Julian Weigl viewed as a candidate.

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool won't be subjected to short-term thinking as they approach the January transfer window.

Liverpool wanted to sign Virgil van Dijk in the summer to improve their back line, but they've not conceded a goal from open play for nearly a month.

"Everything we are doing has influence on ours plans," Klopp told a news conference on Wednesday. "That's all I can say about that.

"Yes it has influence, but I don't know in which way. You'll have to wait a little bit.

"I'm not sure that I get the question 100 percent. When we win a game and when we defend well then I'm happy about it.

"If we defend not that good as a team then I'm not happy about it, but I don't then think the solution is always a new player.

"I'm still a supporter because I love the game, but I cannot change my mind [clicks his fingers].

"It's really rare that I read. But for example, Alberto Moreno did fantastic this season, and then we played at Sevilla and he played not well people didn't hesitate to say: 'That's why we need a new left-back.'

"And I think: 'Wow'. But thank God, I -- or we here -- make the decisions and nobody else. We are not relaxed, but we have view on everything and it needs to fit together and everything needs to work out in the end and you need to have solutions for different situations, systems and all that stuff.

"So far it's OK, but it could have been better and it could have been much worse. Now we prepare for Arsenal and we have to be really, really strong in that game otherwise we don't have a chance."

Atletico Madrid have reported Barcelona to FIFA over an illegal approach to Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann signed a new contract with Atleti through 2021 last summer amidst interest from Manchester United.

“Atlético Madrid have reported Barcelona for repeated contact with Griezmann and his people, contact which we are aware of,” a spokesman for Atlético told Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday. “He is a player with a contract with Atletico Madrid and a long contract at that.”

Griezmann has a release clause in his contract set at €100 million (£88.4 million) but Barcelona have been linked with a January approach.
